Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives by MVS India

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in India?

When we talk about corporate social responsibility in India, we’re talking about a legal obligation, not just good intent. In 2014, India became the first country in the world to make CSR spending compulsory for companies, under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. Under this law, companies that cross specified net worth, turnover, or net profit thresholds must spend at least 2% of their average net profit on social development activities defined under Schedule VII of the Act — covering health, education, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability, and rural development.

Manav Vikas Sanstha (MVS India) is a trusted CSR implementation partner with over 26 years of experience in designing and executing impactful development programmes across India. We collaborate with corporates, PSUs, government institutions, and local communities to deliver sustainable CSR interventions that address real community needs while ensuring transparency, accountability, and measurable social impact.

From healthcare and education to women empowerment, skill development, rural development, agriculture, nutrition, and environmental sustainability, our interventions are aligned with Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through need-based project planning, effective implementation, continuous monitoring, and impact reporting, MVS India helps organizations create meaningful and lasting change while meeting their CSR objectives.

As one of the on-ground CSR agencies in India, we build every initiative in partnership with local communities, government bodies, and corporate CSR teams — making sure every rupee spent turns into a measurable, sustainable outcome. Take a look at our ongoing and completed CSR projects in India below.

Our CSR Projects in India

Flagship interventions delivered in partnership with corporates, PSUs and government institutions

Project GARIMA: Menstrual Health & Hygiene Programme

As one of the active CSR organizations in India working in public health, MVS India has successfully rolled out Menstrual Hygiene Management projects across several districts. By installing sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators in schools, we’ve made it easier for young girls to access essential menstrual products and safe disposal methods, backed by focused awareness drives on menstrual health.

Project GARIMA is MVS India’s flagship menstrual health initiative focused on improving menstrual hygiene, dignity, and school attendance among adolescent girls. Under the programme, MVS installs sanitary pad vending machines and eco-friendly incinerators in government schools, colleges, industrial workplaces, and community institutions. The intervention is complemented by menstrual hygiene awareness sessions, health education workshops, and behaviour change communication to eliminate stigma surrounding menstruation.

Through corporate CSR partnerships, Project GARIMA promotes safe menstrual practices, improves access to hygiene products, and creates healthier learning environments for girls.

Project AAROGYYA: Health Access Units & Medical Service Points

MVS India has installed Health ATM machines across several districts in India as part of our ongoing CSR projects in India in the healthcare space. The goal is simple: bring essential diagnostic services closer to underserved communities, strengthen preventive healthcare, and ease the load on traditional health facilities.

Project AAROGYYA improves healthcare accessibility through Health ATM Machines capable of conducting 50+ diagnostic tests within minutes. MVS establishes Health ATM units in rural communities, government institutions, industrial locations, educational campuses, and underserved regions. The project enables early disease detection, preventive healthcare, digital health records, and timely medical consultation through technology-enabled diagnostics.

The intervention helps reduce healthcare accessibility gaps while strengthening community health outcomes.

Nutrition & Malnutrition Support Initiative

This initiative tackles malnutrition head-on — providing essential nutrients, encouraging healthier eating habits, and improving overall well-being in vulnerable communities. Through hands-on education, awareness campaigns, and direct intervention, we make sure children and families get the nutrition they need for a healthier future.

MVS India works to improve the nutritional health of children, pregnant and lactating women, and vulnerable communities through comprehensive nutrition interventions. Our approach combines nutrition awareness, health education, growth monitoring, and access to essential nutritional support to address malnutrition and promote long-term well-being.

We collaborate with local communities, healthcare institutions, government bodies, and corporate CSR partners to encourage healthy dietary practices, strengthen maternal and child nutrition, and improve overall health outcomes. Through community-based awareness campaigns, capacity-building initiatives, and targeted nutrition programmes, we strive to build healthier and more resilient communities.

Community Welfare Project

The Community Welfare Project is a core part of MVS India’s broader work as one of the CSR agencies in India driving positive change on the ground. By providing much-needed resources, we support the well-being of elderly citizens and children in need, reflecting our ongoing commitment to compassion and community care.

MVS India is committed to improving the quality of life of vulnerable and underserved communities through need-based community welfare initiatives. Our interventions focus on supporting children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged families by providing access to essential resources, healthcare support, education assistance, and community development services.

Working closely with corporate CSR partners, local authorities, and community stakeholders, we design and implement sustainable programmes that address immediate needs while fostering long-term social well-being, dignity, and inclusion.

By providing opportunities, we are helping women to break barriers, gain self-reliance, and contribute to their families and communities.

Project SAMAGRA: Holistic Rural Development Programme

Water scarcity remains a growing concern across rural India. As part of our broader CSR projects in India, MVS India promotes sustainable water management practices, strengthens irrigation systems, and conserves natural resources through community engagement and practical, field-tested techniques.

Project SAMAGRA is MVS India’s integrated rural development initiative focused on improving the quality of life in underserved communities through sustainable and community-driven interventions. The project addresses key rural development challenges by promoting water conservation, natural resource management, sustainable agriculture, sanitation, and livelihood enhancement.

Agriculture Extension Services

MVS India’s Agriculture Extension Services project strengthens farmer livelihoods by sharing modern agricultural knowledge, tools, and techniques. Through hands-on training and access to advanced farming technology, the project helps improve crop yield, encourages efficient resource use, and supports long-term food security.

The project focuses on enhancing farm productivity, improving resource efficiency, and increasing farmers’ income through capacity building, technical guidance, and access to modern farming techniques — promoting sustainable, climate-smart, and technology-driven agricultural practices.

In collaboration with corporate CSR partners, government agencies, agricultural experts, and local communities, MVS India empowers farmers with the knowledge and resources needed to adopt sustainable agricultural practices, improve crop quality, and build resilient farming systems.

Project ZERO: E-Waste & Plastic Waste Management

MVS India’s Environmental Sustainability Project focuses on building cleaner, greener communities through eco-friendly initiatives — from responsible waste management and plastic reduction to tree plantation drives — protecting natural resources and encouraging environmental stewardship at the grassroots level.

Project ZERO is MVS India’s environmental sustainability initiative dedicated to promoting responsible waste management and building cleaner, greener communities. The project focuses on reducing the environmental impact of e-waste and plastic waste through awareness, collection, segregation, recycling, and community participation.
