Our Interventions
The Watershed Way PAN India
Manav Vikas Sanstha is committed to addressing water scarcity and enhancing livelihoods across India. To promote water security and sustainability, we propose constructing check dams, anicuts, and dugout ponds. These interventions will improve water storage, recharge, and availability for agriculture, domestic use, and the environment.
Objectives:
- To increase availability of water for irrigation, livestock and domestic use.
- To improve ground water recharge and aquifer replenishment.
- Increasing agricultural productivity and livelihood resilience.
Project AAROGYYA: Deployment of Health Access Units and Medical Service Points
The Health ATM Machines project aims to enhance access to primary healthcare across India, focusing on rural and remote regions. By leveraging technology, these ATMs provide timely diagnostics, promote preventive care, and reduce strain on traditional healthcare systems.
Health ATMs will:
- Bring essential healthcare closer to rural and remote populations.
- Enable early diagnosis, improving treatment outcomes.
- Promote preventive healthcare with routine tests and health information.
Project GARIMA: Menstrual Health & Hygiene Programme (Awareness Outreach Drives and Menstrual Care Vending Units Setup)
Menstrual health and hygiene are vital to women’s well-being, yet many girls in India still lack access to essential menstrual products and safe disposal facilities. This leads to absenteeism, dropouts, and health issues. To address this, we propose installing sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators in government schools, ensuring girls have access to menstrual products and proper disposal options.
Project Need:
- Access to Sanitary Products: Many schools lack resources, forcing girls to use unhygienic alternatives, causing health risks.
- Disposal Facilities: Without proper disposal options, menstrual waste is poorly managed, creating environmental and health hazards.
- Social Stigma: Misinformation and stigma about menstruation prevent girls from seeking help and accessing resources.
Project POWER: Promotion of Women Empowerment & Rights
Project POWER: Promotion of Women Empowerment & Rights (Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Programme for Women)
The Skill Development Program in Self-Employed Tailoring empowers women across India by providing essential tailoring skills to help them achieve financial independence and self-reliance. Tailoring offers women in rural and semi-urban areas a flexible way to earn income, overcome societal barriers, and contribute to their household income.
Project Need:
- Many women in rural and semi-urban areas face limited job opportunities and lack marketable skills, keeping them economically dependent.
- Economic independence helps women make decisions about their health, education, and family, contributing to overall well-being.
- Tailoring offers a high-demand service, allowing women to create sustainable livelihoods in both rural and urban markets.
Project ZERO: E-Waste and Plastic Waste Management
India faces growing challenges in managing e-waste and plastic waste, both of which pose serious environmental and health risks. E-waste contains hazardous materials like lead and mercury, while plastic waste contributes to long-term pollution and harms ecosystems. This project aims to tackle these issues through a comprehensive strategy that includes awareness, collection, safe disposal, and recycling across the country.
Key Focus Areas:
- Nationwide Infrastructure: Develop collection, segregation, and recycling centres in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas.
- Public Awareness: Educate communities on the dangers of improper waste disposal and promote responsible recycling.
- Recycling and Recovery: Recover valuable materials from e-waste, reducing landfill usage and raw material demand.
Project SAMAGRA- The Holistic Rural Development Programme
The majority of rural communities rely on rain-fed agriculture, making water availability and soil quality crucial to their livelihoods. The Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP) empowers vulnerable communities with tools, training, and sustainable agricultural techniques to help them thrive despite environmental challenges.
Objectives of the HRDP:
- Develop sustainable livelihoods through increased knowledge and skills.
- Improve crop production and food security via irrigation and modern farming techniques.
- Enhance irrigation potential through new water harvesting structures.
